wind power

The EDF Group is investing in wind power and is aiming to be one of the leaders in this sector.

Wind power is rapidly expanding around the world today. Production capacities shot up 29% in 2008 and wind power had an annual growth rate of greater than 20% over the last five years.

EDF Energies Nouvelles (EDF EN), a 50% owned subsidiary of EDF, brings the Group’s ambitions in renewable energy to the table with a well-established capacity around the world of 3195 MW gross in operation or being built on December 31, 2008.

Wind power represents close to 90% of the installed capacity making it the main driving force behind growth in this sector. Photovoltaic solar energy has become the second priority focus of development. EDF EN is also present in other parts of the renewable energy industry: biomass, biofuels, and biogas, small hydro power and marine energy.
EDF EN has been listed on the Euronext Paris stock exchange since 2006.
