In France and abroad, EDF’s engineering services provide support in the construction and commissioning of electrical power plants, plant operations, technical expert appraisal, improved plant performance and forward-planning. This service is available to all EDF power plants and external customers.
In France, EDF must tailor its generation capacity to market trends with the aim of adjusting, developing or renewing the various means of generation. On the international scene, EDF provides expertise and assistance for large-scale projects involving nuclear power plants, dams, fossil-fired plants and wind farms, etc. in countries such as China, Mexico, Brazil, Vietnam and Egypt.
Power generation is a long-term industry. The life span of power-generation facilities ranges from 40 years (current nuclear power plants) to over 100 years (large hydropower dams). In order to have the engineering skills required for operating and renewing its structures over time, EDF has opted for industrial integration, fostering their upkeep and development within the company.
