geothermal
Geothermal power uses the higher temperature of the earth's substratum to produce heat or electricity.
Low-temperature energy is used to heat greenhouses or flats. High-temperature geothermal energy is used to generate electricity. Since 1996, the EDF Group has operated the first and only geothermal power plant in the world to generate electricity on a commercial basis. The power plant is located at Bouillante in Guadeloupe.
EDF also supports experimentations, such as the Soultz-sous-Forêt geothermal power plant which makes use of the fractured rock technique.
the fractured rock technology in Soultz-sous-Forêt

The fractured rock technique involves recovering heat from hot dry deep rock by pumping
water toward the surface. This technology is being tested in Soultz-sous-Forêts in Alsace, France.
