upgrading and expanding the conventional fleet

EDF is upgrading and expanding its conventional fleet in order to boost its generation potential and improve its response to increasing needs for electrical power.

By 2012, France will have an additional peak and semi-base generation capacity of more than 4,000 MW.

construction of gas/combined cycle plants

  • a new gas/combined cycle plant (440 MW) at Blénod-les-Pont-à-Mousson by 2011;
  • the oil-fired Martigues plant (750 MW) will be converted into two 930 MW gas/combined cycle plants by 2012.

construction of 500 MW of combustion turbines

  • a new combustion turbines at Vitry-sur-Seine since 2007 ;
  • a new two combustion turbines at Vaires-sur-Marne since the end of 2008.

500 MW of combustion turbines into service

  • construction of a new combustion turbines at Vaires-sur-Marne ;
  • construction of two new combustion turbines at Montereau by 2010.

2,600 MW through the return to service of oil-fired plants

After Porcheville (600 MW) and Cordemais (700 MW), Aramon (700 MW) and Porcheville (600 MW) is returned to service in 2008.
